Music Works Magic, established 20 years ago, believes that music education truly is one of the cornerstones for successful life-long learning. Our teaching is based on the philosophy of Zoltan Kodaly. According to Kodaly our first instrument is our voice, and at Music Works Magic we believe that if you can talk, you can sing and if you can walk, you can dance!
At Music Works Magic, we understand that voice is our first instrument and singing in tune trains us to listen and recall the sounds that we hear.
If you want your children to learn to play instruments, it’s vital that they master their first instrument - their voice - and learn to sing in tune. Good musicians always sing.
This process can begin with newborns. We don’t wait until our children are 'old enough' before beginning to talk to them. Babies have musical memory from as young as 22 weeks in-utero. It’s wonderful if children can be surrounded by a community, or group, that can sing together, vocalise and interact through music.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Children 1 – 5 yrs

We will sing dance and play, using a variety of puppets, props and instruments. The children will experience a range of beautiful instruments, including gathering drums. We will sing a beautiful pop up picture story book and play musical games involving parachutes and other wonderful props.
School aged children

We will learn a folk dance, sing and play a variety of tuned and non-tuned instruments — drums, xylophones, boom whackers, tubular bells, triangles, shekeres, agogo bells, tambourines, maracas, guiros, etc. according to the ability of the children to take direction as judged by the party facilitator.
Parents of younger children are welcome to stay and join in. Due to the nature of our live presentation we will ask parents who wish to catch up to do so over tea/coffee downstairs or at a nearby cafe - not in the children's session! We are after all there to make the birthday child’s day special and to create a memorable experience for all the children.

Costs & Duration

The Magical music session will be followed by a transition to the party room for 20 minutes of eating party food, including the bringing out of your special cake, singing the Happy Birthday song and distributing the cake and party bags.
Minimum cost for a party is $195.00. This will cover the first 10 children including the Birthday child. Each additional child will cost $15.00.
We supply the invitations, the teacher and the edutainment, you supply the food and birthday cake. A $50 refundable deposit is required when booking your party. Email us to secure your place, or contact us for more information.

Daily 40 minute music classes are open to babies, toddlers and children up to 6 yrs. Younger children enjoy watching, following and learning from older children. It’s lots of fun for everyone!
Creative Dance for 3-5yrs on Monday mornings encourage the exploration of expressive movement and creativity through mime, make believe. A really fun way to develop flexibility and co-ordinaton with friends!
Join us at our Elsternwick Dance Studio. Participants will experience singing and movement from a diverse range of styles, using the body to balance and travel in different directions.
